Paris wants to hamper its residents from skiing in Switzerland and Spain this Christmas

French PM, Jean Castex, has this morning said on French TV that the French government is considering introducing a 7-day quarantine on French residents who travel to France’s neighbouring countries who so far seem to be planning on keeping their ski resorts open, Switzerland and Spain.

The plan is to roll out random controls at French borders with Switzerland and Spain if both these countries allow skiing during the end of year holidays. The PM said on TV “the conclusion to be drawn is that I won’t be going to Switzerland”.

All this as protests in French skiing areas multiply and many mayors of towns in those areas head up to Paris to try to convince the government that they feel skiing can go ahead this Christmas given all the appropriate safety measures in place that they’ve been working on the past few months.
